I want to start breeding leopard geckos and have been doing a fair amount of research. I have kept many reptiles in the past, but have never bred any. I have always wanted to breed reptiles and figure that leopard geckos are a good place to start.
What I need advice on is what morphs would be worth looking into getting. Do I get several of the same morph or different ones that would be genetically compatible. I don't want to spend a fortune on new morphs and have very high priced animals, but I also don't want very cheap animals that wont sell. How much should I be looking at spending on an individual gecko?
The morphs that I'm interested in are tangerines and blizzards. Are those worth looking more into? I want animals that I can look at and enjoy as well as breed.
Is it better to sell online, at expos, or to venders at expos? Is there anything that you wish you knew before starting? And to any current breeders how long do you keep hatchlings on average before they sell?
I really want to make a point that I'm not in this for the money. I would like to make money at some point but I really want to get hands on experience breeding, and learn the basics.
Anything else that you may want to add will be greatly appreciated.
If I think of any new questions that I may have I'll edit the thread or post in comments.
Thank you
