my leopard gecko laid this egg 3 weeks ago and it was white, now looking at it, it has turned a orange colour but when shining a light on it inside its red, is this normal?
By the looks of things, they've rotted/gone bad, don't take my word for it, wait for an expert opinion ,but it seems you've kept them in incorrect conditions.
I looks like a bad egg. Gecko eggs should stay firm and relatively white on the outside until just before hatching. The moss you have it in looks way too wet. I would do some reading and get a more appropriate substrate and measure the water content in it for your next eggs. Good luck with them!
Lisa is right tho your moss looks to wet. I use moss my self. I mix vermiculite to put in bottom and put a small layer of moss on top. If it candled red and you already had them 3 weeks I would go ahead and keep them tho. You never know they may still hatch. If they start to get a smell and rot tho I about bet the excess moister drown the embryo.
If it looks red and there's a shadow by all means keep it! If it starts to stink, deflate or grow a ton of mold it's time to say good bye. Sometimes if the hatchling starts to develop and then passes for whatever reason the eggs stays nicely red even after it's bad. I hope that's not the case with yours! Good luck!
