so is it true that with reptile eggs you have to keep them a certain way up? for example, the way they were layed?

Yes it is true. Once the inside of the egg starts to develope, part of it attaches itself to the inside of the egg, if you dont keep the egg turned the same way you could actully drown it and kill the embryo.

It's not too critical that the eggs stay oriented when they are first laid, but once they begin to incubate they should remain in the same position.

this makes me sad as i went to weight the eggs a few days ago and one slipped and now i am not sure which is up or if i put it the wrong way or if when it fell it detatched...(when i say fall it was only about an inch or less) but still...they are so close to hatching...i hope i didnt kill it

A lot of people mark their eggs with a sharpie marker before they take them out of the lay box, this is to insure you can transfer the egg to the incubator without doing any harm to the egg.
