I use vermiculite with a 1:1 ratio. With the water cup that I keep in my incubator i do not have to add any moisture to the vermiculite whiles it incubating. So far, it has worked great for me.

I put 2 small holes (soldering iron) in each cup for air. Just keep a small bowl or cup about half full of water in the incubator and it seems to keep the humidity just right..

I use vermiculite. I use: The amount of vermiculite X .8. Then I add the answer to that to the weight of the vermiculite, then spray the vermiculite until it reaches my final answer. So If i had 20 grams of vermiculite, I'd multiply it by .8 to get 16. Then I would add 20 + 16 = 36. So then I would spray the vermiculite with water until the scale reads 36. Works every time, perfectly

no substrate method FTW.

I don't have pics of leos hatching from last season, but I do have pics of mexican hogs hatching via this method.

I use vermiculite. I personaly keep mine a little dryer and keep the humidity in my incubator a litter higher and I so far have a 100% hatch rate. also, I use a homemade incubator out of a small refrigator with 50 watt(23 foot long) zoo med heat cable, a computer fan for air circulation, and a helix thermostat. so far this seasion my temps are constant and my eggs are doing perfect.:main_thumbsup:

Can anyone tell me how many air holes I need for a 16oz deli cup that holds superhatch?

Although I only have one year experience, I used perlite at a 1:0.8 ratio as well and had a very good hatch rate.

I went to our local Home Depot and Walmart and all they had was Miracle Grow Perlite which is a definite NONO. I purchased an 8-quart bag of Espoma Organic Perlite on amazon for a bit over $8. I don't have a huge collection so 8-quarts should last me several years...haha

I used HatchRite this season and had much success. It doesn't take as much water maintenance as some substrates.
