hey

Here is my first albino hatchling.

DSC01465.jpg

The eggs are incubated at a constant temp of 28 degrees. I am finding that the are pretty dark for these temp. Is it possible that the color will fade away or wil they stay so dark? Will the head become as orange as the mother (see below) or will it stay dark?

Congrats! Hard to say if it will lighten up, and display orange. So far I find that some darker Trempers lighten up, while others not so much.

28 celcius is 82.4 degrees fahrenheit. that seems to be on the lower end of the incubation level. doesnt seem to surprising about the darker coloration. just my thoughts.

You could try a little higher try 84 or 85F(28.8 - 29.4C) but you probable will get a mix of males I 'm not sure about the ratio though . and colors will start to lighten up. Or what you could try doing is keep the hatchlings at warmer temps when they hatch out like 90 to 94 on the hot end and you probably will get their colors to lighten up.
