So I got my fat tailed gecko a 20 GAL, because he wasn't eating and the bigger size would give him a better heat gradient. But the heat pad I had (Zoo Med) failed on me. So I was wondering what heat pads are better than Zoo Med's. I can't find much about the Exo Terra Rain forest one. Anyone has any good brands or companies BESIDES Zoo Med, please tel.

What size heat pad was it? How exactly did it fail? I like the zoo med and it was the only one that didn't fail on me. I'm sure as with any product you are going to have a few defective ones. I saw another Uth that was rated really well, but I can't think of the name at the moment, if I remember I'll let you know.

I think they were T-Rex cobra mats. Obviously check details, I could only find them online. I have never used them and have just heard of them through forum discussion

I use the medium exo terra dessert mat on my tank and have no problems. You can always search ebay and find better deals.

See, I heard some bad things about the Exo terra, but again, this person is having issues with a zoo med product that works great for me. If mine ever starts having issues, I'll be looking into them too. I just looked through product reviews on another forum that found the Zoo med and Trex cobra mats worked really well compared to some others, although I'm not sure if they even tested that exo terra Uth

I'm sure any brand is liable to have defective ones. I've got several Zoo Meds and have never had any issues. I think they're the most commonly used.

I bought a zilla a while back and the thing is a POS. it's actually rated for 30-40 gallon and it doesn't even heat as well as my zoo med 20 gallon Uth. Also it only really gets warm in the center of the heat pad. Needless to say I won't use it anymore. It's upsetting when you spend the money and it doesn't even work right.

I used the smallest size of heat pad the had, so I could get a hot spot. It works fine for a few months but it would sometimes peak a 139 degrees. Before it failed in peaked 159-179.5 degrees.
