Breeding setup question

I have been reading everything I can find on leopard geckos breeding set ups as there is a lot less on AFT geckos. I'm thinking it would be kinda close on the basics. But no where have they covered how many to start with or what is a good working number. So I'm here to ask the question.

I am thinking of breeding AFT Geckos as there are not as many breeders out there and I hear it's a little more of a challenge. And with the way the Leopards have really taken off maybe (I know is a very very small chance) I could find a new morph and get to name it.:main_thumbsup: I'm really liking the White out with black spots.

How many should be in a starter group?

I was thinking of something like 2 males (A,B) and 4 females (1,2,3,4). That would 3 years of breeding before any of them cross breed back to any relation. I really hope this makes sense to you also.

Year 1
A+1 = A1
A+2 = A2
B+3 = B3
B+4 = B4

Year 2

A+B3 = A1+3 =
A+B4 = A2+4 =
B+A1 = B3+1 =
B+A2 = B4+2 =

So year 3 they would start to get back to their relations. Now that would assume year one clutches have both males and females. I would also be picking the best color for breeding each year.

In year 3 I could add two more males to the group and move male A&B to more of a pet role. That would give me a lot options.

I know I am at least a year away from breeding anything(maybe 2 years). I would have research a lot more and wait younger ones to grow up(Don't have them yet) so this is a theory at this time. I am not rushing into anything I want to have a solid plan in place and that should keep any surprises to a minimum.

Can anyone suggest a site or some books that would help keep the breeding lines clear and help a guy starting out?

Generally you have 1 Male to around 4-6 Females from what I've read.
You cannot keep 2 Males together at all as they will try to kill each other over Females. :/
A lot of people will just put the Male in to breed and then take him out once the deed is done, makes it less stressful for the Females. :)
Just read as much as you possibly can and ask lots of questions before you breed and you should be good. Read all of the old threads on here because they hold a lot of info. :)

My plan is housing all the geckos in their on enclosures. I don't want them together because I know there is that risk of fighting

Thanks I will keep searching
