OH dear,

if thats 2 months old...........then I Iv'e been sold babies that are much much younger than they were said to be.

I was sold a group that were suppossed to be from 2-4 months old, the smallest ones are about as long as my thumb, I'll see if I can get some pics.

pics

the more I discover the less happy I am about this, first off they arrived in an UNMARKED BOX, no, THIS SIDE UP, LIVE HARMLESS REPTILE, NOTHING of the sort, and was then told by the UPS guy that the box HAD indeed been thrown around, ( I also used to work for UPS, and KNOW first hand the way box's are treated! it's scary to say the least)

I open the box to discover that it's packed alright, except there are 2 babies per delicup.

AND I still am not able to get answers from the guy I bough them from, I've asked him twice now if the adults I bought as part of the group are the parents of the babies I bought as well, NOTHING.

THANKFULLY, every one arrived seemingly unharmed and they are all eating well. so far so good.

REALLY?

you think the teeny one is 2 months aleady?

OMG, I can't even imagine how small they are out of the egg!...:)

yeah, it was not a professional shipping/packaging job, thats for sure.

I answered a post on Kingsnake, looked the guy up on fauna BOI, and he had a few good reviews from a few yrs back, so I figued all was good.

2/cup, yeah believe it or not, I was sent 8 of them that way, AND NO ONE LOST A TAIL!

It's so hard ot tell in pics how big htey are with out something for comparison, I just assumed they'd be bigger!

so far the group looks like they change from brick red to faun, and some have dalmation spots a few have white fringe and some even have some harly!

How old before I see their adult color potential....

Sorry for all the Q's I just recently got into babies, my ohter crested's were adults when I got them years ago!

Mine are going on 5 months old, i bought them when they were 1 month old and in the 4 months that i have had them they have both probably tripled in size, at least.

But ya, that seller doesnt sound like the best shipper...

Yeah crested babies are really small compared to mus geckos as far as the adult colors go? I would say about 5-6 month but even so I have 1 male adult he is just a reg and color does not change my lil dalmatian girl does not change and my other two which im not sure but I think they are flame/ partial pin stripes they are a light red/brown during day and a dark dark really cool red at night I am pretty new to crested they sure are some cool geckos hhuh!

They're not much smaller than a 2 month old. It takes them a while to really start growing.

If you put a fresh hatchling next to a 2 month old it's really not much of a difference.

all very interesting,

Thanks for all the replies!.. I had NO idea!.....ok, ok, so they are slow starters, so when would you say they start to show their color potential?.... this group ranges from tans and beige to brick reds in the mornings mostly, I can see spots on some and brindling on others, what a good age to decide to hold back or not?

THANKS!

It was last month when i started to notice my little one really showing some new bright colors, thats around 4 months for him though, different cresteds might not be the same. It has the same colors and general patterns but the colors are enhanced on him and much brighter now.

The colors and patterns will vary by gecko and morph. It's going to be up to you. I know 2 years ago I had a group of 0.0.5 crested geckos. I kept 2 and sold 3 after about 6+ months. When I saw how one of the geckos turned out, I wished I had kept him. They were already a few months old when I got them in the first place. But, you can always find equal or better quality if you sell one and end up wishing you'd kept it.

I have this chart...

Crested Gecko Growth Chart

@ Hatch = 1 gram
1 month = 2 grams
2 months = 3 grams
3 months = 4 grams
4 months = 5 grams
5 months = 7 grams
6 months = 9 grams
7 months = 11 grams
8 months = 13 grams
9 months = 17 grams
10 months = 21 grams
11 months = 25 grams
12 months = 29 grams
13 months = 31 grams
14 months = 32 grams
15 months = 33 grams
16 months = 35 grams

*This chart represents an average growth rate. Each gecko grows at there own rate.

Hope this helps, but I have found that this chart tends to be a tad on the low side for weight if you feed crickets/ live feeders or a bit on the high side if you do not feed crickets.
