Would a Crested Gecko be good to take to a classroom?

:)Hi! I am new to this forum and I am thinking of getting a little Crested Gecko that I can take to school on some of the days that I substitute. I have had Bearded Dragons and Leopard Geckos in my classroom before I retired from teaching, and the children loved the Hands On experience. These reptiles never had any potty accidents when they were being enjoyed and held by the children.
My question is: Will a Crested Gecko be as enjoyable and as reliable, potty-wise, as my Beardie and Leo. G. were? I love the fact that C.G.'s don't need insects to eat or a heat source and they are small in size, plus they are so cute! I would love to hear from those of you who do handle your Cresties alot, and get your feedback and opinion.
Thanks. Mary Ellen

Flip a coin! :main_yes:

I have a couple cresteds that seem to think messing on you is a way to say Thanks for their being picked up. :main_laugh: What you could do is put the enclosure in the middle of a circle and discuss the Crested without touching, or you could simply hold it yourself and allow the kids to pet it while you're holding it. But honestly there's no way to ensure that the crested wouldn't ever have an "acident" on one of your pupils.

Now with respect to the educational aspect, I think a Crested would make an EXCELLENT classroom pet! :main_thumbsup:

I think it would be okay, I just got one today, it didn't mess on me, although it messed on the guy who handed it to me, because he was being very rough and squeezed the poor guy, but when I held him for the first time he was quite relaxed, didn't move to fast, was quite interesting to watch, and didn't jump unless I put something in front of him that he wanted to jump on, but it wasn't a HUGE leap, more of...a gentle hop :p

I've had mine in the room for 3 years now. She does just fine and the kids like her. The jumping part is fun.

leila, my roommate's crestie, tends to think we are human toilets... it's never been a big deal to us, just a little suprising sometimes.. but yes. she does like to poop.
