Hey all,

After about 4 months of having my adult pair of Cresties, my female dropped her first pair yesterday sometimes in the evening. I found them tonight...they were pure white but both had a dent along the side like they were drying out or something? Will this be okay?

So I dumped out my sour cream in my fridge, scrubbed the dish, and put about a 50/50 mix of sphagnum moss and vermiculite in it. I got it moist, but no puddled wet or anything. It is damp only. I made two little dimples and the eggs are about half covered in the mixture. I then poked holes in the lid and covered it.

this is what I was told to do by the breeder that I bought the geckos from. Is this correct? What are the things I should be looking for? I understand I should be expecting incubation time of around 75-80 days at 70-75 degrees.

What can I do to ensure these eggs come through - I am very excited but not very educated on the subject. Keep in mind I am no scientist so the best "layman" procedures would be great!

And if you want to carry it forward - what do I do when they start hatching? Do they need time alone at first to eat any yolk or learn to breath or anything? When do you remove them from the nesting after they hatch? When do you start feeding, what kind of setup for a hatchling (i.e. are they fairly physically able right off and just need a small cage with enough hiding area or??).

any advice would be great. I have read through three gecko books but they jsut don't go into the detail I am looking for.

Thanks all - can't wait to post pictures in a few months!!

Everything sounds ok. You dont have to use moss, vermiculite and water alone is fine.
They may not hatch though with it being the females first clutch. You will know they are bad if they mold, if they dont keep watching for babies.
