Crested Gecko Won't Eat

My crested gecko won't eat his CGD. He's a juvenile at least 9 months old. Only change I can think of is that he recently moved vivariums. I tried feeding it to him with a spoon and he wouldn't eat it. Any tips on how to make him start eating again?

Any move can cause a gecko to go off his food for a time. It may take a few weeks for him to begin eating regularly again. Just make certain he can locate it easily, and he'll hopefully start eating by himself again soon. For example, if he's fairly small in a large viv, you may need to set up multiple feeding stations for easier access.

Thank you so much. I didn't notice you replied. I didn't get a notification for some reason. He's eating crickets. So I've just been covering crickets in CGD. No clue if that is a smart move. Just came up with it.

It would be better to do some "tough love" here and wait for him to start eating CGD before giving any more bugs. If he's only used to eating bugs, he may need to go through a little detox and learn to eat the right foods again. It's not really good long term for a crested gecko to have a diet that is mostly insects.

A lot of people panic and start feeding bugs when their gecko isn't eating right away, but a healthy gecko can go weeks with very little food, especially if they are a bit stressed out by a move. I hope that helps.

What brand of CGD are you feeding? I've heard many have had issues feeding Repashy and there are a couple others I've tried and mine won't touch but they love their Pangea and Clarks! If you just moved him I'd give him at least a week to get settled before you worry a lot. I've attempted to tong and spoon feed mine but they tend to just run from the spoon...haha. Most babies that are over 8g or so can handle a week or two without food easily. Adults can go longer - especially fat ones!
