Hey, can red eye tree frogs live in the same enclosure with a crested gecko, it is a 12"x12"x18" with 1 adult crested gecko, i know giant black milliepedes can but can red eye tree frogs, or other types of frogs/toads?
Thanks, :main_thumbsup:

Absolutely not. Sharing an enclosure with a large predatory lizard will be very stressful to the frogs, and it is only a matter of time until the gecko attacks the frog. In addition, that cage is too small for either a crested gecko or an adult red eye, and far too small to mix anything in it.

Edit: I would also advise getting your crested gecko's health issues sorted out before you bring in any new animals, you may need that money for the vet, and you don't want to risk transferring pathogens from the crestie to a new animal, or from a new animal to your crestie.

I definately agree with Tony. Besides the health of the frog/gecko, MOST amphibians produce some amount of toxin/predator-aversion secretion and you potentially risk the gecko's life by introducing one into the enclosure. Some amphibians have even been documented to be toxic when kept with other amphibians(fire belly toads). Species should only be kept with other members of their species, and in many cases not even then outside of short introductions for breeding.

Also, millipedes should never be kept with reptiles. All millipede species are at least mildly toxic and and potentially dangerous to other animals.

And a 12X12X18 exoterra isn't big enough for even one adult crested gecko. A minimum of 18X18X18 exo is the requirement, or a 20 gallon tall tank.

Millipedes are actually a fairly common pratice with crested gecko owners as the giant african millipede is far to large of a prey item and the cresteds will leave them alone. But it is only advised to use african millies and not any other species. Better clean up crews are earthworms, springtails and isopods. BUt if you use earthworms and isopods that are wild collected you will need to QT them for a period of 9months+ to insure they are completely parasite free.

Frogs tend to frequently, by the sounds of it, carry entamoeba. This is extremely deadly to crested geckos in general. Putting in any sort of frog with a crested gecko, or most other geckos for that matter, can pass on parasites and diseases. Even if your frog looks pretty healthy, it won't be worth the risk.

I honestly have yet to hear of many pairings between species that ever work out. I heard of a few mixed frog tanks, but some can be territorial and need a good amount of space. And as the others say, it can stress out one or all animals involved.
