should I put food on the floor and up high? I have a mushroom ledge designed for food cups but I see my crestie spending time near the fllor like she is looking for food.
and yet you can put it wherever you like You never know, maybe it'll eat better from one spot over another.
You should be moving food presentation around anyway, for any animal fed daily (or every other day) in an enclosure where it's reasonable to do so. It encourages activity, even if it is as minimal as walking around a tank or bin a few times looking for the food. It's something, rather than nothing; burns calories, exercises muscles, utilizes their senses in locating it and prompts food-acquisition behaviors. It's much better to mix it up than it is to stick the same food in the same dish at the same time every day.
Reptiles do not recognize patterns that quickly but even their limited capacity will pick up on constant repetition of a stimulus that they have a pre-existing instinctive response to and lazily meandering six inches from their hide to a dish and back is a pretty craptacular routine.
