What size enclosure?

I'm bringing home my new baby in April. At the moment he is only 5 grams (weighed by the breeder).

What size container should I be purchasing for him/her? I know they're supposed to go into a smaller container until they're bigger, but none of the care sheets seem to mention what the appropriate sizes are for younger geckos!

Are you using tubs or a glass aquarium

Not sure yet, honestly.

If I have to keep the baby in there for more than a year than I am thinking a glass aquarium (so that I have something nice to look at :) ), but if I'm keeping them in there for only a few months, then I want to go the tub route.

That's another thing people haven't really mentioned -- how long it takes for a gecko to reach their adult size! It all says it depends on the environment and diet (i.e. whether it's warmer and whether the baby accepts insects), but no one seems to be able to estimate or give an average!

I keep mine in a 20 gallon tall glass (front-opening) terrarium, and have since she was a baby. I haven't ever had problems with "cage fright" from a too large of tank. However, I wouldn't suggest getting complicated with the decor until later, because simple setups with babies help them find their food (if you plan on feeding it crickets). Gargies usually grow somewhat slowly, but typically reach adult size within 1.5-2 years on the CGD, and a bit faster when feeding them crickets.
