I bred HOTS for years then sold off my collection. I for some reason never gave a second thought to LG's because they are a dime a dozen. Well here I am.

I was wondering if there are other LG forums with a little bit more of an "Adult Nature"

Thanks,
Steve

I may be biased but I haven't found another forum that's as mature and informative as this one. Of course, there are lots of newcomers to the hobby on any forum but there are also quite a few big breeders that are busy but stop by to give some updates and answer intelligent and original questions :)

I read my post and it came off wrong. I am new to LG's as new as a lot of forum members. It just seems like if I took a good half-hour I could answer most questions based on some 'ole reptile common sense and research. I like the forum. It's user friendly and its good to see so many young people interested, including me:)

Welcome to GF! One good solution to balance the number of basic questions that we field is for the more experienced members to bring up interesting and even controversial topics so then we can discuss them. It can lead to a lot of great "conversations".

It's the nature of leopard geckos, they're everyone's stepping stone into herp keeping so the majority of keepers don't have any reptile experience or common sense to pull from (at least at the beginning). So you get a lot of very basic questions that other more "advanced" species forums probably get a LOT less of. But hey, everyone has to start learning from somewhere!

Yep, I think Oli hit the nail on the head. Leopard Geckos attract many first-time (and often young) owners.

I'll admit to being a little frustrated sometimes when someone asks a question that could have been answered by reading any caresheet found on Google... but some people just are not good at online research or sifting through the massive amounts of information to find exactly what they need to know. :) I would rather they come here and ask instead of jumping on Facebook and taking the first comment response as truth.

The reason I've stuck around GeckoForums is because there is definitely an element here with experience and more advanced knowledge. Another great resource are the online radio shows pertaining to herps. They've done some shows that discuss pertinent topics in the community.

Well compared to other hardcore pet forums I'm on, this forum is waay nicer and warmer with an informative yet laid-back feel to it.

And a shout out to my age group!! Lol
