This is my first post and I've only had my Lepoard Gecko for 2 days. He's been eating and has been fine but if I put my hand in the tank he hisses and tries to bite me. Today i was checking how many crickets he had so i moved his favorite hiding spot. Then when i tried to put it back over him in his corner he hissed and looks like he wants to bite me. I don't know why I never touched him. :(

It's not really about whether he likes you or not. If you only got him two days ago, than he's still nervous in his new environment and probably not used to people. If you think about it from his perspective, it makes sense. You're a giant creature reaching towards him and he doesn't know if you're going to try to eat him or not.

Typically it takes a while for leopard geckos to become tame. Usually people recommend leaving them completely alone for the first week or two after you get them, and then you can start leaving your hand in the enclosure and getting him used to that. Once he's used to your hand, you can try to touch him gently. Once he's used to that, you can try to pick him up. These things just take time, but don't worry, you'll get it! Baby leopard geckos are also much more skittish than adults. Just be patient and you'll be able to handle him eventually. But as I said, it's important to leave him alone for the first week or two while he gets used to his new environment.

Thank you I'll leave him alone.

How big is he? In my experience baby geckos hate everything - or better said, they're scared of everything. They calm down as they grow and are usually tame as puppies once they hit 40-50g. Moving and being little are very stressful! Give him some time to grow and settle in like others have said :)

Newest baby here..........
Been holding her everyday since I got her......started at about 4 days.
Now at 15 days ...... been eating since 10 days.
Weight at 5 grams.....Average normal gecko is 7 grams a month til adult.
So she is doing above normal average.
Babies bark, spit, bite, but they don't have strong jaws at baby size.
And wetting a fist gets them wanting to see you often.
{ only an opinion from a LONG time filming their actions. learning, porning, ? }
You wanna see it? I got it. No charge to GECKOFORUMS.NET members.
$150 per film otherwise. $45.00 Photos. Porn Gecko additional 10% fee.
Not sure if it's tax deductable or not.
