Excuse, but age has nothing to do with knowledge or experience. There is no age limit for this site because anyone is entitled to ask for help, give advice, or share about their leos. Age does not equal experience. You see many thirty year olds who are clueless about geckos, but you see many young people too.

Personally I have been keeping snakes since I was two, breeding them since I was seven, been keeping leopard geckos for more than six years, and I have now bred leopard geckos successfully this year. I may be young, but I am far from inexperienced, and the advice I give is sound and generally backed by my own experience, my peers, and by this community. As you can tell, I do not appreciate age discrimination, and I am sorry if I sound harsh defending myself.

As for the heating, even heat pads need thermostats to keep them from spiking and cracking the glass of the tanks, as mine did three years ago (zoo-med brand). All heat sources should be regulated by a thermostat, dimmer, or rheostat for the safety of your animals and to prevent damage to their enclosures or your home.

Lets all calm down, SBP quit being so abrasive and starting conflict. It will not be tolerated on this site. Your UTH heat mat is probably why your gecko quit eating for a while, because it will not get hot enough. Heat cable is great as long as it has heat controls of some sort. UTH should be between 90-95 degrees.

Dang, you're really after me Steve! If you make a redundant post that contributes nothing, expect the same in replies. I'm 19, if I can buy alcohol and lottery tickets I think I can post on this site, thanks ;)
