While hand-taming my gecko, I thought I would ask how many of you have your geckos willingly climb on your hands, and how many of you always go to scoop the gecko or catch them, even moving hides if necessary?

To start out with, I scoop them up with both hands. Then I let them crawl or run from hand to hand. After a few times, they willingly climb on my hand. :)

Yep, when I first got Jewels, she would run and jump to get away from me. It was like she was scared I was going to murder her. But after a while of chasing her down, and being pooped on, she let's me pick her up and falls asleep in my hand and licks my finger, shes my little love bug really :)

The girl lets me scoop her up no problem. Which is odd as the previous owner said she was...ahem..."mean". If you have a treat she'll climb up to eat it too and then she's yours. She kinda pushes herself in to pets. It's cute.

The boy is a bit more rambunctious. He started off pretty skittish but he has become a huge beggar. He does let you know when he doesn't want to be picked up though. He'll dart across the tank at which point I say "fine buddy!". I don't push the point unless checking toes.

The widdle baby is brand new and still skittish. Until he gets used to our hands in the tank I won't push any holding. He's starting to come out and explore. Even ate a cricket in front of us lol.

Bearded dragon is the biggest cuddle monster though. I just scoop her up usually although she's been known to jump on mum and dad.

I have to slide my hand flat under his chin/chest but he usually takes initiative and climbs on from there. He won't climb on if i just rest my hand in the tank next to him. That's because he doesn't seem to be particularly eager to leave his tank. He's totally fine when outside and he's pretty well tame at this point. Just likes the warm tank more than my relatively chilly apartment I think.

There all different I have around 25 now the juveniles I handle every day two want two of 15 don't want any part of me. Most of my adults just let me pick up without even moving. I have a young female clown project that climbs right in my hand.

Mine does the same thing, she really doesn't climb into my hand but she's very chill once in it and sometimes if put her back in the tank, she won't climb off my hand so I hold her a little longer.

Nix lets me pick her up. She never climbs up on my hand but she doesn't run away either. Every morning when I change her water she peeks out of her cave to say hello. She's a diva.
