Do u think housing a female and a male together at off season will lead male to not breed with female at breeding season? Like male will losr interest in female and not breed?

I feel that it's still a matter of opinion about whether to keep geckos together or separately, as long as the person choosing to keep them together is able to watch them carefully and willing to separate them if needed.

Here is my experience with keeping geckos together and breeding behavior:
--most of my leos are kept together most of the year. They're put together in Jan. or so and separated in the fall as soon as I have room for the males. Generally the males exhibit breeding behavior from Jan. through about June or July and then they lose interest. Right now they're all still together and there is no breeding activity going on at all.

--I had a pair of leos together year round because the female wasn't ovulating and the male wasn't bothering her much (I eventually had to separate them when he got to be too much of a pest). The male rarely exhibited mating behavior between mid-summer and early spring.

--I have 3 groups of AFT's that are together year-round. They are not exhibiting breeding behavior now and probably won't till about Jan.

--I have a pair of gargs together who also are not exhibiting breeding behavior and won't until the spring.

--the only geckos that have been an issue in the last 10 years is a pair of banded geckos (Coleonyx) where the female laid eggs for an entire 12 months and eventually died, probably from overbreeding. I've learned my lesson and watch my current pair (who are not exhibiting breeding behavior or laying eggs) carefully.

I hope this is helpful.

I agree that its a matter of opinion and depends on the geckos. I worry too much and so I choose to keep mine alone. As long as they seem to get along and you don't see scratches on either and they maintain their weight okay they can be left together. It shouldn't affect their breeding during the season.
