A 2nd chance at life

Last Thursday, a man brought a shoe box into our store. As he set it down, he said "It's dying, my son doesn't want it anymore", then ran out the doors.

Inside was the smallest "adult" Leo I've ever seen. He didn't even register on my scale.. I decided to bring him home, as that would be his best shot at survival.

The photo is from the night I brought him home. He wouldn't move unless you tried to touch him (not even to thermoregulate), no interest in food either. He has pretty severe MBD, as you can see. I got him started on repta-boost (carnivore care wasn't available locally), which he readily takes. He also loves his calcium bowl. He has already started moving around easier, and last night he actually hunted dubias! His little tail tip was wagging like crazy. It kept crawling out of his mouth, but he eventually got it down.

I've got Phoenix worms on order, but what other kind of feeders or supplements should I try? He passed urates 2 nights ago, but still waiting on poo for a fecal.

Your the cats meow this little guys definitely needed someone like you to get him going. I hate it when I see someone treat animals this way once the Novalty wears off and the pets not new anymore. I have my big girl spade that someone thought he could use as practice for his geckos to breed with until he found suitable mates for them leaving this poor girl tortured and skinny just lying there not able to get away. I took her in and used wax worms as suppliment along with horn worms as a mush and slowly as she got better and could do it on her own let her hunt and eat crawling things like dusted crickets. I keep seeing people talk about a specific slurry that could work you just have to do some research I'll keep my eye out and get back to you on that.

I might try the slurry if he plateaus, but getting him to eat isn't an issue. He WANTS to eat the roaches so bad, we just have to get his jaw firmed up so he can grab and hold onto them.

I had 2 Leo's so when I brought spade in she had some good company and now she's like the big sister. This is a picture of spade (tail regenerated) and Viv.
