Help

I have had my leopard gecko for about 10 months now. I got it as a juvenile at ++++++++. It still refuses to let me handle it no matter what I do. I don't chase it, i just leave my hand next to it. It smells my hand then walks off every time I feed it it runs back into its warm hide. When I clean off the reptile carpet it tries to climb up the glass. How do I get it to warm up to me?

Welcome to GU! I moved your post which you had accidentally posted in the "classifieds" section. No one can respond to a classifieds post, so hopefully you'll get more responses now.

On the one hand, there are geckos that just don't like to be held. I have a male I got as a young adult about 2 years ago and he still doesn't like to be held. I can hold him for a short time, and then he starts wiggling and if I persist, he may bite.

On the other hand, some geckos will at least tolerate handling but won't initiate it on their own. If you wait for them to climb on your hand, they'll never do it. You can gently scoop him up (you can even move the hide for this) and make a cave out of your hands. If he wants to move, let him walk from hand to hand, sort of like a gecko treadmill. Start by just holding him a few inches above the floor of the cage just for a minute or two and let him get used to it. Gradually increase the time and hopefully you'll eventually get him more comfortable.
