My female leo has ben pregnant for 15 days she wont eat anything, I was told that was a sighn she would lay soon. She keeps digging in her laying box but she never lays the eggs. Is it normal for them to take this long or do i have a problem.

thanks TY

well... I'll tell ya, I have a female that has yet to lay her first clutch for 36 days... that is 5 weeks and 1 day thus far. She has a fully visible set of eggs in her abdomen... and she has been digging around for almost a week.

Patience my friend... patience. :) She will lay soon...

It's perfectly normal, we have had leos to take 13 days, but that's just the shortest time span we've had. Most of our females will dig for days before laying, just trying to find the perfect spot I guess. Make sure you have a good moist hidebox for her to lay her eggs (otherwise she may not lay), and she should lay soon. Hopefully right after she lays, she will also eat ;)

When they dig a lot it also can be a sign that they can't find the right spot to lay the eggs. I can't imagine that there still people that don't know how to create a suitable place for egg laying, but still. It also varies a lot in my collection, sometimes 5 weeks, sometimes two weeks in between the clutches.

Greets,

Stevie
