I have never had this problem, until I had to feed my gecko bugs. I started seeing bugs that were not there. I think my mind is playing tricks one me or something. I hate looking at crickets and dead insects because it freaks me out and yea I know I have to get used to it as I have a gecko that lives on insects. Just imagine my surprise opening a can of dead crickets. Oh god I wanted to scream, pass out, or die. I hope I don't see crickets in my sleep, or in my food again. LOL. I think I have been bug trama-tised. :D

If it is affecting you that bad you may not be cut out for keeping geckos. Insects are a part of gecko keeping. I have NEVER liked roaches but have now over come that fear to be able to offer my geckos roaches. It wasnt easy either!!

The worst bug out there is a maggot. I can't even handle seeing them. So when we first go geckos & I stared into a bucket of mealies...oooh god! Stomach turning. Deeep breaths. Yeah, that bad.

I still can't pick up the pupae without getting the freaked out twinge. But your love of leos will help you overcome the creepie crawlies.

I'm fine with worms and roaches; but I can't stand crickets and anything that can spin silk; e.g. silkworm and spiders (I'm so glad my geckos don't need to eat spiders).

I can handle almost anything except for roaches. I remember the flying wood roaches when I was young, and it traumatized me for life I think.

any of the worms are fine with me. i don't like crickets just because i hate anything that has a legitimate chance to escape if i'm not super-careful.

we have mice in our apartment that we've been catching in one of our cupboards and they bother me more than any of the bugs because they can bite and could have some gross germs (plus they poop their body weight every three minutes it seems like) :main_angry:

Gross bugs

Well I did not see bugs in my sleep last night. I just have to get used to gross bugs is all. I'll be ok with it. I will never buy roaches and don't want in my house.
Crickets and worms (Worms are not that bad) are fine. However the crickets give me the willies. The dried crickets are worse, they look like dead roaches. I am thinking of getting worms because those don't freak me out and my gecko would eat them but for now it's crickets because that is all I have. I will always feed my gecko everyday I have been for the last 4 days. I'm just trying to get used to the gross bugs. I think my mind is to. I'll probably look back in a year and laugh at my post, thinking bugs don't bother me now.

I am fine with bugs, except for the pupa stage of a mealworm and a superworm. The sight of them makes me sick to my stomach. I usually keep fresh mealworms and do not keep them for more than a week.

Sometimes roacjes freak me out a little but crickets and mealies and any kind of worm really doesn't bother me at all. One bug that is kindof freaky is.......spspspiddddderrrrs. *cringe* I'm being a pansy but they just are weird, lol.

there is only two insects that really freak me out. Spiders are a big one. And not sure if this is correct spelling but hellgramites in the larva stage and even worse in there fly stage. omg they are huge and have big pinchers.
Something else in my back yard and neighborhood scares me at night but no clue what it is. lol
Imagine sleeping with your window open and all of a sudden you hear a blood curdeling scream from outside your windosill. yeah almost peed my pants. I use to think it was just one but now late at night i can hear them all over my neighborhood calling back and forth. no clue what kind of evil things they could be. lol
one day I am going to set up a night camera and watch.
yeah i know i veered away from the bugs. But yeah spiders are my absolute worst fear.

Spiders just aren't for me, bugs aren't really for me, I just like the things that eat 'em! ;)

I need help with crickets.

I need some help but I do not want to make another post but it has to do with crickets. I hate sticking my hand in that plastic container to feed them a potato.
I don't want crickets crawling on my hand, gross, gross. All the crickets are in a little plastic container I bought from the pet store. My boyfriend just threw all the crickets into the container. I have figured out just to tip the plastic container side ways in the glass cage and some crickets will just jump out. Now the hard part is getting the old potato out and replacing with a new one, with all those crickets jumping and stuff. No I do not have an egg crate to seperate the crickets. I normally just drop a potato in and hopefully I don't squish a few crickets. However getting the food out of the cricket container is hard for me. Maybe gloves would help I don't know but I can't do it with my bare hands. I keep trying but I'm not that brave yet. Any help, or advice to make it so I can just get the potato out of the plastic container. I have to do it everyday.
