had my gecko home 2wks or so nw and saw a few people on here sayin to put your hand in the viv and wait for the gecko to come and sniff it etc, ive tried this everyday for the last week or so and she justs moves further back into her hide when i put my hand dwn, so to get her out i have to scoop her up, which isnt a proplem because she doesnt mind, then she wont go back in the viv lol she loves it out. but anyway what could u be doing wrong with puttin my hand in? or how long should u give her before i stop trying nd scoop her up

thanks Daman

Let her get used to the sight of your hand for a few days, and if she's still shying away, that means she's still not used to you. It can take a long time. Once she comes near it and doesn't seem phased when you put it in there anymore, then you can pick her up, but do it from the front, not from the back or top of her.

In my experience some Leos just don't want to climb on your hand when you have it in the viv. I guess it could be because of many factors. For example if your tank is plain and small they might see your hand as something new to explore, but if you have lots of hides or climbing obstacles and your tank is big, they might not have a reason to climb on it. Since you've only had her for 2 weeks, it seems that she just has to get used to you. You never know though, time will tell.
