New Owner Questions

I adopted three female leos a few days ago from a friend who is moving out of state and couldn't keep them. They are all about 2 1/2 years old and have been housed together since they were babies in a 50 gallon tank. I've done plenty of reading here and elsewhere and I think I've got down most of what I need to know, but still have a few questions.

(1) I've noticed that two of them like to stick together a lot of the time, even in the same hides. The other one seems to be somewhat of a loner. They do seem to get along and they will walk by each other and cross paths, they just dont 'hang out' together. Is this normal behavior?

(2) They all seem to like to walk through their water dish. There is plenty of room to walk around on either side, but they usually don't. They'll start to climb up the dish, then put one foot in the water and sometimes jump back a little as if they were surprised to be stepping on water. But then they will continue to walk through it. Is this normal behavior? Can any diseases or parasites or anything else be transmitted by them walking through the water and then drinking it?

(3) I haven't noticed them drinking water and the level in the dish doesn't change at all. Safe to think that if they're walking through the water, they know where the water is and they will drink as needed?

(4) I bought various hides and one is a medium size hollowed out bamboo log. Theres plenty of room for a leo in there, but not so much room for them to turn around and I didn't consider this when buying. They can turn around in there, but they get in this position where their body is facing one way and their tail is facing the other way and they are bent 180º at the tail. They don't look like they're uncomfortable or struggling to turn around at all. Is this a normal position for them to be in?

I'm sure more questions will come up as I learn about my new friends, but thats it for now unless anyone wants to throw in some new owner advise.

Thanks!!!

1. Yes it's normal behavior don't worry about it.
2. Yes it's normal behavior and yeah parasites can be transmitted if their walking on the water but that's if they have been stepping on the poop in the enclosure but a 50 gallon is pretty big so im sure they don't walk around the potty area and step on the poop. Even then your supposed to change the water every other day or so.
3. Yes they'll drink the water if they need water, besides it's only been a couple of days so their still settling in. You can also spray a hide if you like and they'll lick the water off of it.
4. leo's are very flexible and will curl up so don't worry about it if they don't feel comfortable they wouldn't be in there.

Pretty much what I figured, but whats the deal with walking through the water? Do they do it purposely to try and cool or clean their feet or do they just not care what they walk through?

My Leo loves walking in her water dish, especially if I'm watching. This morning I looked for a poo in her tank and did not see one. Then, as I looked from a different angle, she pooed in her water dish... I just cleaned her tank, too. She and I had a talk ;)
