I plan to breed in february. I have a 70g female and im getting a male snow tomorrow thats only 32g. Do you think he could be ready by february? I feed mealies daily and waxworms every week or so
How old will he be in February? He should be 8+ months old for breeding.
The 50g range is for females. I'm not sure if there is a recommended weight for males. They can "do" it from when they're five months old or so (but they really shouldn't). Males don't lose that much weight from breeding; they don't go through the physical stress of laying eggs. If he has a fat tail and is healthy and of the right age, he's probably fine.
You should only put two geckos together that are of equal size. Make sure your big female (70g is quite big) doesn't bully him. If you remove him again after breeding, that sounds safer.
I would not feed leos waxworms that often. I would cut back to once a month or every few months. Besides, waxworms are expensive you would be better off feeding them crickets once a week or something like that for variety.
