so i got bored and made a dimmable thermostat.. im sure there's something that exists like this already i just wanted to mess around with it . basically the box on the right is a stc-1000 hooked to a plug then the box on the right is the dimmer (yes i could combine them into one box but this works so why change it)

i can set the tempature using the dimmer but in the event of a faliure where the tempature gets to hot the stc-1000 will kick in and turn off the power

I run the same kind of dimmer on my heaters also. My dimmer switch is rated for 300 watts and I'm pulling 75 watts at max so the risk of fire is minimal.

I like the outlets in the same box as the dimmer I will do that one my next one.

I use a lamp dimmer that I found at my hardware store, and I monitor the uth with an IR thermometer. 10$ and works great.
