3 year old, intact (not spayed) female chihuahua. The dog has never been seen by a vet in it's life. Presented to my clinic today because it had been hit by a car on Saturday. Today (Monday), the dog comes in unable to walk on it's rear legs. No sensation whatsoever. XRays were taken, with the animal awake and not sedated (due to financial issues :main_rolleyes:).

The animal is slightly rotated, since it was extremely painful and barely allowing me to touch it, much less put it on it's back and stretch it out for an XRay, so excuse my terrible technique, as the animal is rotated. I would have gotten a better image with the animal under anesthesia.

Also, when you're looking at the picture, the left side of the picture is the right side of the body, and vice versa. The marker that shows that got cropped out of the picture.

There are 2 fractures in the pelvic area. Copy this image to your "paint" program, circle the area(s) you think are fractured, download it to photobucket or whatever and repost here.

UnicornSpirit, I was going to circle the exact same areas! Rather than upload a picture with the same areas circled, I'm just going to cast my vote with the picture above.

Wow! UnicornSpirit, you NAILED it with your two smaller circles! I work with DOCTORS that couldn't point those out :main_rolleyes: I am SUPER impressed! Great job!

Brilliant Eraser and ClemsonGuy, great job as well!

We treated this dog with a massive amount of steroids and pain medication. According to the vet on the case, surgery is not necessary, but cage rest is the most important thing.

Unfortunately I have not heard from these owners as far as a status update on the dog. I have tried to contact them several times.

Yay for getting it right! Boo for owners not bringing their dog in for normal vet work. :( I hope everything turns out well for the poor dog, but I don't have much faith in the owners.
