I know there are a lot of fellow veterinary students/technicians/doctors that frequent these forums, so I thought i'd throw this out there, since this case has kinda been on my mind all day and so far all night.

1.5 y/o male intact domestic shorthair feline, presents for straining to urinate. We surgically unblock his urethra, hospitalize him at our facility against medical advice, (we are not a 24 hour facility) but that's what the owner wishes due to financial constraints. I come in to work this morning and here's what i'm seeing....

That is true...

What else?

Think about organ density on an XRAY...and what fluid looks like on an XRAY...thats the only hint I will give!

Looks like a rupture post jejunum but there is a serious amount of pressure being put on the diaphragm. Are you going to run a barium series on it? Did someone perform a cystocentesis on him? We had a cat come in from another hospital and they didn't release pressure prior to pulling the syringe out and they caused the bladder to rupture. Either way that cat needs some lovin.

My guess is peritionitis because of a ruptured bladder. Did the cat reblock during the night and rupture?? You can see gas in the stomach and interstines, but no obvious foreign body. And crystals or casts in the urinalysis??
