I joined the forum a few days ago and thought it was time to say Hi. My Grandson and I are in the process of setting up our Gecko breeding project. He has had a couple of geckos that he was given by his cousin and his interest has grown so much he has now decided he would like to move forward with his interest in Geckos to breeding.

As his parents both work full time and long hours and for this reason he spends a lot of time with us, I have said that I would share the breeding project with him here at our home. We have a spare room that we can use and we have already started to purchase equipment etc. I have told him that the two Geckos he has are not suitable for breeding as we do not know the genetic make up of them. I have a good understanding of genetics already from reading many articles and over the years have been a breeder of both show Budgerigars and Netherland Dwarf Rabbits.

I have shelving arriving tomorrow and have already sourced and purchased the tubs/trays needed. Heating including thermostat etc is also on it's way. When everything is in place we will then begin purchasing our breeding colony from reputable breeders here in the UK.

I will hopefully be an active member here and will no doubt have many questions as we progress that I am sure all the experienced breeders here will be able to help us with. So that is it for now. We are both looking forward to our new project/hobby and hopefully will be up and running soon.

Welcome to GF! My first breeding dream as a teenager was to breed budgies, but it never worked out. In many ways I find that leopard geckos are kind of the budgies of the reptile world. Enjoy your project.

Thank you Aliza for your welcome post. I enjoyed my years with the Budgerigars and do miss them but at the same time we are excited to be getting going with the Leopard Geckos.
