Baby beardie jumping to screen top and hanging upside down?

I have a baby beardie (here's a picture for size: http://i880.photobucket.com/albums/ac4/SnowballsGirl/beardeddragon008.jpg ) who has been jumping onto the mesh top of the tank from her basking tree. Even though the fall worries me, what really worries me is the heat, as she's been jumping directly under the light, and staying there trying not to fall. When I put my hand directly on the mesh it burns me, so I can only imagine her. After she falls, or jumps back down to her tree (I've seen her do both) she sits with her mouth open for a while. Will she learn on her own that that's painful, or does the tree need to be replaced with something shorter?

Here's a picture... You can see that it branches off to the left, and to the right (under the light).. We've cut both of those off already.

What are your temps on the basking spot? Should be about 110* f for a baby her size. I would tip that log on its side or replace it so she can't get to close to that light she may get burned. Her sitting with her mouth open is called gaping. Its normal. They do it to regulate body temp.

Mine jumps to the screen also. He only does it on the side with just the uvb bult, never the heat bulb.

Thanks for the help everyone. She hasn't done it recently, and I've found a way to tilt the bulb so if she does she won't get burned.

Ive had mine jump onto the screen its fun to watch. I used to have a Desert Spiny lizard who would run all over his tank when excited. He could run upside down on the cage screen just like it was normal ground making FULL use of his tank thats forsure. Called him spider lizard lol.

The substrate was taken out within an hour (Was told it was fine until I came home and did research). That was before the beardie was put in the tank, as a matter of fact. Also, the bulb you see is an UV/heat combo.
And thanks
