I've heard that you rarely see them and that they run when they see you. Is this true?

Yes and no. One is a lot more friendly well hang out of hides from time to time, he even is willing to climb on my hand on rare occasions. The female is extremely shy, but does venture out. I do see them both almost everyday and that is with a lot of hiding spots. They do love to burrow though, so sometimes all I see is their tail
