My best friend keeps several different species of chams. and I get the impression from her that they can get pretty stressed from too much handling. They require specific temps and humidity plus uvb lighting and a tall, rather than long screaned cage.

Chams are really cool reptiles but they are also VERY high maintenance! I would suggest heavy research before you even consider getting one. They are not something you can buy and "learn as you go" like geckos. We researched for over three months before our first go at one and it still died. We discussed our enclosure/set up, diet and supplementation and showed pictures of him that were taken a few days before he died to several well educated veiled breeders and no one could figure out what happened to him. Not trying to scare you away from them or anything because they are really cool animals, but you just have to know what you are doing before you buy one.

I have 3 vieleds and an over all 15 chams

Just thought i would let you know, if you do your research chams can be easy to take care of. All you have to do is get the heat lamps right so you have basking about 85-95 tops and normal ambient temp of 75-80. With certain chams you can hold and they wont get stressed, vieleds tend to be aggressive. I have 3 i am selling right now that are not apart of my breeding stock, one male is very aggressive towards people, the other male allows me to handle him once a day without being stressed, and the female is totally nice and can be held whenever you like.

I wanted to get a chameleon, but i read they can get stressed easily. But like Radiant Reptiles said, some are different. I just think they are a You can look but not touch pet. Unless you buy one from someone who has been handling it and therefore you know. They are very cool reptiles though!

I have yet to own any Panther cham that gets stressed because its held. Veileds are like 50/50. The misconception is because people think because their cham acts a certain way that speaks for all chams and thats not true.
