My fiance and I are going to be doing some camping at Warrior State Park during our spring break this year and figured we might go do some herping. I'm from Pennsylvania so I am not familiar with the area at all and was just wondering if anyone here would have any pointers for some good amphibian herping or anything in general?

You might try looking for a guy named Will Bird over at herpnation.com and/or fieldherpforum.com (they are both the same site). There's another guy from the KY/TN area but I'm spacing on his name at the moment.

So im by no far a pro at it but I have gone a few times in PA area, I know not where ur going sorry. Pretty much if u can find a river ur sure to find things along there. It is important not to flip every single rock you'll be there forever. Flip larger sized rocks. things like large pieces of bark also will help. Find a river or wetish area and im sure you'll find stuff. Snakes though can be harder to find imo, but look in tighter areas. Things like old tires usually work well for me. As im sure you know though always put the animals back where u found them and also put the thing you flipped back because even small insects and animals like ants need shelter and play an important role in the ecosystem.

edit: Also try not to pick up the snake if your not sure what it is. Tennessee has some nasty snakes (hots). So unless your sure what it is just observe and don't touch. I would though look at the venomous snakes and some other nasty critters in the area. Best of luck.

As it turns out I wont be going to Tennessee because of inclement weather predictions so I'll just have to make due up here with some herping or birding. Thanks to all for your advice though.
