:( I try and go the extra mile, and screen potential buyers. I don't do auctions, because I want to be sure they go to good homes. This year has been good, but I have had a few bad people that slipped through. I recently had a guy buy an adult Leo from me. Later he texted, that she was stressed. He had immediately put her in with his male to breed. After saying some nasty. nasty words to myself, I texted back. I told him he needed to separate because she was not ovulating. I politely asked if I could send him one of my care sheets, since I noticed in his picture of her, there was a bright over head light. He said "no thanks", that he has been doing this for awhile.
I can't believe that anyone in their right mind would drop a leo straight from shipping, into a tank to breed. It is obvious he has no clue about ovulation, stress, and quarantine. My poor, poor girl. :(

That sounds problematic :( I'm going to be breeding and It's scary not knowing how well the people i sell my babies to are going to take care of them. I have my own care sheet made up as well just in case someone adopts or buys from my rescue, but regardless theres just going to be some bad people out there. Rejecting a care sheet is a really big red flag, I suggest you print them out and give them to people regardless if they want it or not, just as a precaution. (add sources!)

Or for people that aren't close by, i suggest making a .pdf file and sending it through email so they can read it through their computers.

99% of my buyers this year have been awesome. I had a few that had never owned a Leo, but were so eager to learn, and do it right. Actually I do send a care sheet to all my buyers, and info on what to do when they arrive. This guy just ignored it all. I had explained that I would be shipping with a cool pack. The box and gecko needed to be brought to room temp, before putting her in her warm home. He ignored that, too.

Some people just dont respect animals and it sucks. Sigh. the least you can do is treat them right, they didn't ask to be bred and sold. Not bashing on breeding though haha, it's a profitable and fun hobby, but some people just dont realize that these are animals and they need to respected and cared for, even leopard geckos that require the most minimal care of any reptile I've owned.

Arg, sorry to hear this. That's one of those reasons I hate seeing females labeled "Ready to breed" when they're being sold. No they aren't! >_<

This is an interesting point. I always use the term ready to breed meaning they are at breeding size. Not to mean that they are ovulating and ready to go with a male. I might have to rephrase it. I always assumed everyone knew what it meant, but maybe not. I guess I'll have to specify on my tos what that means to me.

Selling the geckos can be stressful. I've had mostly great people buy them, but once in awhile someone will buy one and not follow anything on my care sheet and then wonder why they are not eating. :(
