Ugh!!! No more carefree summers!!! :main_no: I'm growing up way to quick, I miss my Barbies!

I just finished my 3rd year of College ONLY to have to take SUMMER CLASSES! Not one session but BOTH SESSIONS of Organic Chemistry from 8:30am - 3:40pm, Mon, Tues, Weds and Thurs (Oh Lord). Just to go back in the fall 09, with a small break btw. then the spring 10 but this time I won't have a summer break because if everything goes well I'll be starting my clinical year from June 1st - May 31st, 5days a week, 8 hours a day! Then 9months after that my loans are going to start asking for repayment!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! :main_laugh:

It really sucks though..

I took one quarter of summer school (back in 1982), and I was at college for a total of five summers while working on my two master's degrees. You may find that summer school is a pleasant surprise. I could never afford to get even a little behind in my homework, but I generally found that the workload was such that I could keep up more easily than I could during the regular year. The campus was always less crowded and more relaxed during the summer. People seemed to be less competitive both in their studies and in their general attitude towards life. In some ways, those summers were as relaxed as my childhood summers, particularly in grad school when I pretty much on my own.

In any case, I congratulate you on coming this far and wish you all the best moving forward.

I always took summer school, usually both sessions. I wanted to get out of college ASAP and I didn't see the point of wasting a summer away when I could quickly knock out four classes in 2 1/2 months. I also took a couple of mini semesters, which were awesome; 3 hours credit in two weeks! As an art major, my studio classes were 2 1/2 hours long during the fall/spring and 4 hours long during the summer. I also worked full time all through college, so though I feel your pain, I don't feel bad cause I did it already. It really won't be as horrible as you imagine!

Ah... I was reccomended to NEVER ever take Organic Chemistry in the summer.. I found it was hard enough in the regular year.. but it might be different if you are focusing on just one class instead of all of them.

What's your major?

Just remember there is a lot of garbage to remember such as syntheses... and compounds. Good luck though! Your my hero for doing it! I took second semester of inorganic in the summer.. it was ok.. :) I need my summers though!

Thanks everyone.. I'm trying to look at it in a positive light now after reading that my professors are actually really nice, easy to talk to, provide slides and give extra credit so it shouldn't be that bad! I tried taking Organic Chem during the spring semester and I was on total overload with my toxicology class, calculus, etc I couldn't handle it so I had to drop it. A lot of my friends recommend summer classes because they said the professors cut out the "Fat" because it's such a short time.

I'm a Medical Technology Major.. OR a Clinical Laboratory Sciences Major, since they changed the name of the program. When people hear Medical Technology they think we're working on MRIs and stuff, lol

I dunno why I'm complaining for being there from 830-340 because during the Fall 09 on Tues and Thurs I have class from 7:30am-4:00pm, damn lectures!

Aw....but think of all the long weekends you're going to have!! It's rough getting through school but so worth it in the end. Plus I bet the chemistry will be much easier to manage without having to think about other courses.

Lol Thanx! Well at least I don't have to buy a new book. I went to check my course webpage and he already posted an outline of what we're doing, the dates for the test and ALL the powerpoints for each chapter! Just waiting on the lab to post up their stuff but in the meantime I have to buy a lab coat that actually fits and find my goggles, lol.

I'm actually excited now :)

I've always taken summer classes. It's not that bad. I promise! :) But I've also never had a summer off. lol. So I've forgotten how nice it must be. You'll be ok. Just think of it that when you do start your job, you won't get summers off so it's the real world.

I am 25 years old and havn't had a summer off in 10 years. I used to think ah its summer brake back when going to school regularly but know it is almost a forgotten memory. Just the other day I was like man kids are out of school already and its graduation time dang, now its just another day though nicer then winter with plenty to do out side.

Unless you go into teaching we all have to grow out of the summer brake thing. I'm lucky if I can get a week to 10 days off during the summer.
No complaints though , I just had 5 months off do to moving and finding a job.
