Feel free to ignore this, its just my bantering rage wich probably makes little to no sense XP.

Im part of a fish forum...well 2, but ill talk about the one thats pissing in my cheerios for now.
I dont like being undermined for EVERYTHING i say. I dont care WHO you are, I dont care WHY you feel the need to quote me. but I am FED THE **** UP WITH IT!!! Im sick of the members of this(reffering else where, all first person acusations are aimed at the other forum) Forum quoting and nitpicking every thing i say, every thread and every post like im a ignorant child. I DO KNOW HOW TO CARE FOR FISH thankyou, Running a fish farm isnt the kind of job you pull off being idiot. Unfortunetly I learned how to care for fish diffrently then this forums standards and im not playing very nice.
Someones betta comes down with ich, i say treat it with salt and heat. I get negged(discredited) to hell. Of course, Garlic and temps exceeding 86 with large frequent waterchanges for the next 2-4 weeks will fix it. Garlic is the fricken gods blood of fish medications i swear, what does it do again?? Ohhhh thats right, it provides a weak acid that can kill parasites internaly in large quantities, how large you ask? VERY VERY large, like making the fish eat garlic nonstop for a few days on end.
It can also increase appitite, this is true, this is its only good use.

NOW, how does any of that boost the immune system, kill external parasites or kill bacteria?? Oh yeah i forgot IT DOESNT.

Of course, salt is just murder on fresh water fish... because the term "freshwater" is applied to all fish that dont have over 1. salinity. However, that doesnt mean there isnt salt in the water. When we dose medicinaly we dont bring it to 1. not even close. However those microbacteria and single celled organisms that are specialy adapted to our salt free water cant adapt to the slight raise in salinity like our fish can, perfectly well too.

"You cant put your assasin snails in salted water"- says the just.joined.memeber.with.overstocked.tank. Who supplies me a link that discusses absolutley crap and the author admits it. Its not like assasins are part of the whelk family ;) While they are true freshwater snails(meaning the dont REQUIRE any salt) They dont mind brakish water either and tend to breed better in it.
-----------------------------Part 2---------------------------------------

The other thing i hate about this forum, its what they claim to be a "family" forum. So appaerntly the terms, Crap, crud, Damn, Fricken, Son of a -insert any word here- arnt allowed, nor is responding with sarcasm. They will let a 7yearold join, the COMPLAIN about his grammar and spelling in their cute little stickie "Please speak english" wich they are sure to post when they can.

Its not just that. Its that when someone contradicts me or says something INCREDIBLY stupid, i hav to carefuly explain every painstaking detail of whats wrong with their statment without any attitude or being nice and formal, wich frankly takes too long. When someone asks if their over stocked im going to be frank in my answer.

-------------------Example 1----------------------------------------------
New Member: Is my tank over stocked? Its a 10gal with 3 angle fish and 10 tetra and a catfish.

Me:doing it my way: Unfortuently yes, your tank is over stocked. Angles require a tank with a minimum of 30gals and 3 feet of space. There are very few species of tetra that would house comfortably in a 10gal. The only species of catfish that can be put in a 10gal are normaly pygmy corys.
Rehome, return or upgrade your tank. Be sure its cycled and do some research before buying your fish next time.

Me:doing it their way: Hello and welcome to -fourum name- I see you have quite the stock there. Unfortunetly the petstore employee lied to you, its ok they do it to all of us. The angle fish in your tank really need to have atleast 3ft of space to grow and thrive. What kind of tetra do you have? Most species dont do well in 10gal tanks but some do. Also, what kind of catfish do you have? Only otto cats and pygmy corydoras will do well in a 10gal. If its a pleco then it will need a much larger tank because they have a very large bioload. I highly encourage you to return most if not all of your fish so we can restock it with a good healthy stock. Have you read up on the nitrogen cycle? If so heres the link.---. Feel free to run any new stocking suggestions by the forum so we can help you avoid stocking incorrectly again.
END

Because i totally want to spend 7 days explaining why every single on of your stocking ideas wont work, instead of you looking up the fish yourself. Can i have an oscar. No. What about a wolf fish. No. What about tinfoil barbs. No. Whatabout a Siamese algae eater. No. What about a betta. Yes. I changed my mind, can i do some african cichlids.

DO YOU SEE THE HELL I GO THROUGH??

End rant: ill be back.

Oh I read it.
I could post a story like this probably everyday.
Today I had to deal with a lady with african dwarf frogs, and yet another bowl! "Its not a bowl, its a vase".

I read it and I love your advice. Can't you find a better forum?
There are always gonna be ignorant know-it-alls( ahem to some people).
How bout we put those people in the vase or fish bowl?

I am on better forums, the point is that while they may know how to properly care for fish, our exact ideals are a tad off and while i ignore this, some of them make do point to highlight it.

So my lil betta Lyra decides that she wants to take my mind off things so she thinks "Im going to fight the intake!"
GEDC1196.jpg

Well im deffinetly preoccupied :p. It looks bad but ive handled worse. She has a attitude, hence her nickname betta from hell. She likes to jump.
In all honesty, shes an ugly duckling. You see a brown betta with BEAUTIFUL blue fins. However, without a flash handy shes actually brown with grey fins, and not pretty grey either -__-. However, thats changing, she is marbling from the tips of her fins. She will either be navy blue or black.

GEDC1197.jpg

Look at her dorsal in this pic and youll see where shes marbling. I simply cant wait for it to fill out. Aswell as for her fins to grow back and to see if her body wont change color. It did when i first got her, she was actually lavender, very very light purple. Within 2 weeks of getting her she turned brown and grey and now Blue. Her gill plates are solid white/silver, hopefuly thats indicative of final body color.
