Reporting a bad reptile shop

Fleck was running low on mealies so my hubby and I decided to check out this reptile shop about 30 mins from our house yesterday. I also wanted to look at getting a tank background and new temp gauges. As SOON as we walked in; this horrible smell hit us. It smelled like poo and dank bedding. They have lots of different herps there; turtles, leos, beardies, frilled dragons, monitors, chameleons, etc. I walked around the shop checking out all the different tanks. The Frilled Dragon had stuck shed all over its head and neck. The leos were housed on wood shavings with no humid hides (male and female of different sizes/ages together). One of the baby turtles (a Russian something) had no water/food source that I could see. Another turtle was stuck between the glass and this hide thing; when I told the guy that worked there he said it would get itself unstuck (after about 10 mins of this thing struggling I finally told him to help it; which he did). They had two LARGE adult beardies in a very small tank. One of the tanks (some sort of odd looking lizard) had dead and rotting mealies in it's bowl. Most of the tanks had large amounts of feces in them; they looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in a while.

I know that this doesn't sound as bad as it was. You would have to see it for yourself. Plus, I'm sure there are more things that I didn't notice

They also only had two people working. The guy was helping this group that were buying a leo and gave them wrong advice on how to care for it (I overheard him talking to them). And a girl that was doing the register/messing around in back. After standing around for almost 30 mins without help, we finally left. I grabbed a business card to make sure I had the phone number and address

So...how do I go about reporting this shop? ASPCA?

That place is ridiculous and I'd rather shop at the Petco near my house. At least their store is clean, doesn't smell rank, animals tanks are clean and they have enough people working to help you

ASPCA is only located in New York. The SPCA doesn't seem that interested in how pet shops take care of their animals, from my experience. However, it doesn't hurt to try... You could call and make a complaint.

But they won't hesitate to go after individual owners...It's astounding how some of these organizations work.
