That's a really good article and makes lots if sense. I wonder if there is a link to where we can donate to stop this. Although it adds new blood to our ever growing pool of geckos, I think that its over doing it when they're almost on the endangered list

I see this in a different light completely.... I see it as them passing the buck, and blaming the "sellers" and "people overseas" for wanting them... Meanwhile in reality.... locally they are taken for granted, and are even a pest or nuisance. they have now realized that there IS a market for them, and they are noticing how well the population of captive bred animals is growing. there are now more leopard geckos in north america, than there is where they are naturally from. That being said, I think WAR has a GIANT impact on the local population, but they do not really take this into consideration... locals moving into more rural parts of the country/hillside/ etc. are looking for the same things as the geckos themselves. SHELTER/SAFETY. WATER. FOOD. so as all the war over there pushes on... the locals are "spreading out" into these higher populated areas... and therefore removing/disturbing the natural gecko population.
