Fauna is a reptile marketplace built for safer, smarter shopping. Find offers from breeders who want what you want - safe and transparent buying and selling.

How is this different from Kingsnake?

Kingsnake is pretty dated and in the last 4 years that I've been buying, breeding and selling reptiles as a hobby, it hasn't changed or improved... at all. It doesn't do justice to the sometimes incredible photographs being posted. You have NO idea if the breeder you are attempting to buy from is reputable. When I browse the website, I'm inundated with ads that are rarely relevant to me.

We'll be verifying all breeders prior to allowing them to post listings on the site. Users will also be able to post reviews as both buyers and sellers so you'll know what kind of person you're buying or selling to.

Here's an example of one of our listings compared to a kingsnake listing.

Kingsnake: Kingsnake.com Classifieds: FIRST OF THE YEAR - BABY ARGENTINE BLACK n WHITE TEGUS

Browsing kingsnake is also pretty painful.

Category page on Kingsnake: Kingsnake.com Classifieds > Monitor &Tegu Classifieds
Category page on Fauna: fauna-category.jpg

Lastly, vendor pages poorly represent the amazing selection some breeders have to offer and provide little information about them.

I really want to get a lot of feedback from the community as a whole. I think this is the kind of website a lot of us have been waiting for. If this is something you'd be interested in, signup for early access. We're almost finished building the platform and we'd love to get some users in early to start breaking stuff and giving feedback!

So I went to the site and got the pop-up that wants me to submit my email for an invite, which I did. Then I get a URL but when I paste that into my internet, I just get the invite pop-up again. Can't access the site!

I think the url is so you can share it with friends, it may be somehow tied to you so you get the referral. But I assume they have to accept you?

Oops, I thought I'd get an email if there were replies to the thread. Sorry for the silence on my end! Aliza, right now we're finishing up coding the platform and working out a few kinks. We'll be letting some breeders in next week to start giving feedback and breaking things! :)

OK. Good to know. It would be good to make it clear in your publicity where you are with things so people don't get needlessly frustrated.
