Domain Question

Ok I want to buy a domain for my website, now I am new to most of this stuff besides what little classes I took in college and everything I know is mostly self taught, so forgive me if this a stupid question.

I have built my site and uploaded it with FTP with a free host, now can I purchase a domain using the free service and just use their free hosting? I don't need a lot of space to purchase the hosting just really want a domain name.

Yes you would just need to get the DNS from the hosting company, give them the domain you are getting (they will need this) and edit the DNS in the zone file control area on your namesecure.com account. But I would check with the free hosting company first to see if it can be done. Some do not have separate DNS info for each site.
