Good afternoon, Everybody.
GeckoForums.net has now exceeded the maximum amount of disk space on the server allocated to us by our host. Because of this situation I am asking for your help.
Our photo gallery currently contains 5,774 photos. That is a lot of pictures! Before today we also had more than 12,000 attached images! I did delete about one half of those attachments (none that were posted after July 1, 2007), and there is now a much smaller amount of space allocated for each user for attachments, although it is still quite a lot compared to other forum based sites.
On August 1st I will be decreasing the amount of disk space allocated for each member significantly. Each registered user will be allowed 2000 Kb (2048000 Bytes). There will be room for around 25-30 pics in each gallery (depending on sizes of images).
What I need is for everyone that has a gallery containing more than about 25 photos to go in and pick out (I know it's hard!) the "top" 25 that you want to keep in there and delete the rest. I realize this can be time consuming but I do not want anyone's pictures to get deleted, just in case they do not have a backup copy saved somewhere.
If you have no preference about which pics stay and which pics go in your gallery, then you need not do anything, except expect that on the 1st there will only be 25-30 images left in each gallery, most likely the most recent ones you have uploaded.
When I first came up with the idea for GeckoForums I had NO idea it was going to grow this large and become such an active forum. Therefore, at that time I allowed pretty much unlimited attachments, and unlimited photos. Now that we have grown so much, I have got to put some limits into place. Thanks for understanding.
