Kelli, is there any way to include the TOS, and the point system with the sign up information for the site? Like, an email that goes to the email address everyone signs up with? I think that way there would be nobody able to deny that they have seen it (as I've seen people deny many times). I can only imagine how frustrating it is...

People just want to know where the line is...
Then they want to argue that they stepped on the line, they didn't cross it... then they will stick their whole foot over it and claim that their leg is still on the other side, so that doesn't count. :p

Seriously, people will always push the limits and test the rules. Most, just because they can.

I agree with Jeremy. Some people can't seem to avoid trouble and act as though it "finds" them . :)

Our TOS has not changed, and each "infraction" (BTW I call them that because that is what they are referred to in this program in the admin area:p) is explained in the TOS. Please post here and let me know if there is something in the TOS that you need further explanation on and I will be happy to do so.

It seems like I was misunderstood, so I'll attempt here to make myself somewhat clearer. I don't recall at one time saying that the T.O.S. was unclear to me. In the course of two years, I've been warned only once, and that in the very early going. I think everyone is entitled to make a mistake.

With that said, I am actually referring to those people that will twist and turn every word in the T.O.S. to make even the most resolute of modorators or administrators question themselves. That could potentially be a very frustrating situation. To me personally, the T.O.S. is crystal clear. I'm referring to those that will latch onto anything they can to justify their actions.

Well, in all fairness I was trying to answer your question, which was-
So is what constitutes each of these "infractions" explained clearly in the T.O.S.?

I was only trying to clarify that yes, everything is very clearly laid out in the TOS and then I was trying to be helpful by asking you (or anyone for that matter) to please let me know if there is anything in the TOS that is unclear or hard to understand. I appreciate that you have taken the time to actually read the TOS, thank you.

As for those that will latch on to anything to justify their actions... well, that's their problem because that stuff doesn't work here. :main_cool3: Of course the staff is not perfect and if one of us makes a valid mistake we have no problem admitting that and resolving the issue. However, once we make a decision, we pretty much stick to it.

I just want anyone that has any questions about the TOS or something they don't understand to let me know, my last post wasn't referring to you but to the membership in general. :)

Yeah, I could edit the welcome email to include the TOS I guess. I doubt many will actually take a couple of minutes to read it but you're right, at least that way I can say I gave them every opportunity. :main_evilgrin:

If there is anything that "jumps out at me", then I'll certainly give you my viewpoint. I'm just trying to help you and the mods avoid a cantankerous situation. :D Thanks for the info!

I read the TOS, but I guess you just need to have common sense when posting here. If its something that you think could *maybe* get you in trouble, its better not to do it. Better safe than sorry. I agree with the email thing, some may not read it.. but hey you're right. Forewarned is forearmed (or whatever the heck the saying is...I need sleep)

Just FYI, with this new warning and infraction system, there is a difference between a 'warning' and an 'infraction'. Now, if you receive a warning it is just a warning, and no points will be assigned. If you receive an infraction, points will be assigned.

I think this is a great idea. I was seriously thinking about not comming back on here due to some things I have read and has been said in the forums and in the chat room. I'm glad you are trying to do something about it.

Michele (and everyone), we are doing our best to keep GeckoForums.net a place where ALL members can come and enjoy sharing and learning about these wonderful creatures we all love without drama, hassle, and inappropriate conduct. If you see something that you think is against the TOS, you can click the 'Report Post' button and all of us Mods/Admin will get notified and act accordingly. If things are going on in chat that you don't feel is appropriate, you can copy/paste the content and send it to me in a PM. All posts/chat contenet that get reported are kept anonymous from the rest of the members.

We are a community here, and there are bound to be problems at times. Our goal as moderators is not to be an iron fist that routinely bans people from this website, but rather 'peace-keepers' that maintain this online environment free of the riff-raff.

I like this. This is one site I don't mind if my kids come to. I can't say that about many other forums. There have been a few heated threads that have had me re-thinking this. However, I'm glad to see these changes.
