I knew this was inevitable, and now the time has come for us to upgrade to a new and much bigger server. The move means that the website will be down for a few hours, and should take place this evening or tomorrow sometime. Thanks! :D

man I like didnt see this before it went down and was temporarily freaking out. Until i texted chris (yellermelon) and he informed me what was going on. Good thing some people pay attention! I almost had a heart attack thinking the site had been shut down!

Haha I didn't see this until after it went down either.

Idk if it's just my computer being stupid, or what, but I can't get to the site if I type "geckoforums.net" into the task bar like I could before. And the "new posts" link isn't working--clicking it just shows a 404 "not found" error...

How are you reaching it? Are you using "www.geckoforums.net"? If so, and that's working, it's a DNS propagation issue which should resolve itself over the next 12-36 hours. What would be happening is that "www.geckoforums.net" is being pointed to the correct location by your ISP's domain name servers but "geckoforums.net" is being pointed to the old server which is now shut down. That would explain why you can't get to the "new posts" link since that is hard coded as "http://geckoforums.net/search.php?do=getnew". If you try http://www.geckoforums.net/search.php?do=getnew it should work.

FIgured it might be something like that. Alright, I guess I can just type the extra "w"s for now lol until it corrects itself

Thanks for the clarification. I thought I was going to lose my mind yesterday when the computer kept telling me that the page didn't exist. I was like a little kid who's buddy just moved away :main_laugh:

For anyone who is interested, http://private.dnsstuff.com/tools/d...ms.net&token=24a0740a176758220825699f17969019 will take you to a page which confirms that "all is well" with the DNS settings for this site. Generally, all domain name servers on the Internet will have updated within 48-72 hours, but most much more quickly than that. Curious that some are updated on www.geckoforums.net but not on the domain itself since both were updated at the same exact moment. If you scroll down to the bottom of the linked page it shows that the "A record" for "www" and the "A record" for the domain itself both point to the same IP (174.37.16.163).
