How can GF be improved?

I like the idea of having the OTM conntests (Of the month) on a site this big we would have TONS of entrys and voters. Invert of the month, snake of the month, lizard of the month, gecko of the month and so on. Just use 2 each month.

If a person keeps balls, they're generally happy to comment on others' balls and even show their own balls. Sometimes folks have questions about their balls. It's always exciting to get new balls. Some people don't like balls at all, while others would love to have some balls.

Sorry Im slacking on my GF postings....that being said most of the info given I agree with, the name calling has got to stop by ALL members NO exceptions. I also agree with NOT liking the "LIKE" feature or point system for the reasons recently stated above. I would also like it if the feature where you get named "senior member" due to high posts, we have seen in the past that some individuals will post comments like "wow" or "nice" or "I like" on every post to just rack up the post number, when really they haven't given any real useful info but get termed "senior members". I guess this also goes with the join date as like some have said you may have just joined but have been keeping herps for many years. Maybe instead of the items above to have a join date but also a "Years of Care" date...but then again those can also be fabricated. I do like the general "like" button where you it doesn't neccessarily get added to a "point system" but just to show you agreed or like the information in the post. I think many people will soon realize that its just a general way to say "yes good info". This would do away with excessive +1's or the "agreed" comments and keep the threads a little cleaner.

Honestly ive always HATED reward systems. Few are fair. But a like system will cut back the uneeded posts without just giving points. As we know there are members that may have 2 accounts without our knowing and this system could be abused. However there are some memners that should wear the "im full of it" sign as well. Thats why its up to us to insure the OP recives proper correct information, to refrain from fighting and to maintain the sanity of the mods who have to clean up after us

I haven't read this whole thread, but I just wanted to add my two cents on the pm box thing. This is also the same issue I have with the parrot forum I'm on.

When I had my sugar gliders they had a pm system that I hated but ended up loving because of the way it worked.

It worked like a IM system. So instead of sending and receiving like email... it basically works like a IM client except it's not instant. Or you can think of it in a 'thread' way. Looks just like how these posts are now except it's in your pm box.

So instead of receiving XX pm's from a single person, you'd see only ONE pm from them in your box, it would just be bold indicating there's a new message.

I'm not sure if there's a way to work that into the system you have on here though, I believe that's what you receive when you purchase the forum.

Anywho... hopefully I made some sense >_<

We need more info stickies imo. Just some more of the basics. On all animals, im not qualified to create any myself, less it be for the fish section in wich case id be happy to make a few basics(betta, goldfish, livebearers, nitrogen cycle, algae and such).

I like it. Its funny and hilarious, it also draws peoples attention and puts them in a humored mood before entering that section of the forum. Wich can attribute to a better posting attitude.

EDIT: What about a certification method. Im on a site that allows you to get certified, it doesnt take away any privliges aside from certain forums but it does allow them to insure everyone is who they claim to be and it keeps out trolls. I dont know how extreme its considered but it works. They have you take a pic of yourself holding a sign with a number on it aswell as that days newspapper from your area. The pic is revised and then they give you a status symbol of being certified and trustworthy.

Cuz i didnt think that one through XD. Now there could always be age restrictions and such but im unsure of how the forum can actually be modifyed and to what extent. Is there a parental email approvel for certain age and lower on here? I mean, the youngest ive seen is 11, i can understand a parent not wanting this at all.

Plus, what are there, like 6 of us who actually post in that section? Ball's are the coolest thing going right now in my opinion. The number of combo morphs are insane and they are really beautiful to behold. I wonder if more people aren't into them because of how pricey the rarer morphs are. I mean, you can buy a "HIGHWAY" or a "PUMA" or a new Mercedes….hrmmmmmm…..decisions, decisions…..
