I hardly ever see any on here and we used to have a lot. I hate having to report so many posts, but there are definitely people that don't follow the rules and step over boundaries. I'd really like to see this place get to the way it used to be. I can't imagine I'm the only one that feels this way.

I should add that the mods that are here do a great job. I just don't think there are many anymore.

This thread is a little old but I have not seen an increase in moderators. So I think its time we get some extra help in here. :main_thumbsup:

Yeah, I noticed lol. I also assumed since you started this thread talking about reporting posts and you're a moderator that your instatement was part of the solution to the problem :p

They're only bad if you get in trouble.
Not really. An overabundance of mods means there are going to be more instances of mods abusing their powers and acting on their own personal feelings and issues with people instead of doing their jobs properly. Plus, the more mods, the stricter things are, and the less people can post without running the risk of doing something wrong in someone's eyes, since everyone likes to interpret the rules differently. Furthermore, human psychology has shown over and over again that the more people there are enforcing rules and laws, the more people act out. I've been on many, many, many forums in my life, and the ones with a ton of mods are always the worst.

Reminds me of one place where they had riots every single year for quite a while. And every single year, they'd have more and more police officers in riot gear in anticipation of it, and every year, the riots got worse. Finally they decided to not have any police there except a few plains clothes officers, and voila, no riot, and none since.

I've told you before. If you don't like how things are run here, then stop coming here. There are no negatives with more mods. Rules are here to be followed. The mods have worked very hard over the years to keep things in order.

I didn't say anything about not liking how things are run? I'm not sure what you're reading, but it's obviously not what I'm saying. I'm pretty sure I've been on more forums than you have, so I can say from experience that a ton of mods isn't always a good idea - and that was the only point I was making. No need to get prickly.

Btw, there are only three mods and the admin. We are still looking for another mod to add.

Are you really going to argue with me again? This is not my first time being a mod on a forum.

You stated that mods make things more strict. We don't. We just enforce the rules that you agreed to when you signed up.

What? No, I never stated that at all, and I'm not trying to argue with you. You responded to me. All I said was that too many mods can be bad and cause the opposite of what people want. That's it. No more. The end. Fin.

This is a copy of your exact words.

the more mods, the stricter things are
Fair enough. I misspoke. Perhaps "stricter" isn't the right word...then again, perhaps it is. If you'd read the rest of it, you'd see this: "...the less people can post without running the risk of doing something wrong in someone's eyes, since everyone likes to interpret the rules differently." I have seen many, many instances of mods - particularly if they don't like someone ;) - doing a number of things: 1) twisting the rules so that they can punish someone, even if no rule was really broken, 2) making rules up as they go along and punishing any dissent, 3) punishing a particular person and ignoring others with much more severe infractions. And unless the admin happens to be someone who can easily be contacted (i]if[/i] the person doesn't get banned) and actually cares, the members have to take the abuse and usually just leave or get banned. The more mods, the greater likelihood of things like that happening when they just don't need to. So, in short, as I said, more mods isn't always a good thing. It can be bad, and I've seen it happen many times.
