Hello, i'm curious to know what you're using to sort all your reptile pics? I use an app called AntRenamer. It renames all the files by the exif, it ends up like "2012-10-02 01-11-56.jpg"

This is nice, but i put them all in the same folder since the beginning, i should've thought about sorting first... Now it's just hell, +1300 (good) pictures, when you want to find one it takes quite some time...

I want to make a folder for each morph, and sub folders for each geckos. Easy to create the folder, but how to simply move/sort all of them without taking months and dying in the end? :main_laugh: Any ideas?

You may have no option but to move everything and categorize it by hand, unfortunately. But in the end it's better, as you end up being more frugal with what photos you keep and end up purging perhaps hundreds of photos that in the end are mediocre for the sake of saving time.

I have everything in folders, as I got totally over having the one photo folder of 8,000 images without any rhyme or reason a few years ago. So I keep all my reptile photos in a folder named "Reptile" and inside it I have the following subfolders; "Chameleons," "Geckos," "Selling" (for advertisement photos of animals I've sold/am selling), and "Reptile Shows" (for all my show photos, which usually all go into the same place except the very big shows like Daytona which get their own subfolders.)

And then within "Chameleons" or "Geckos" I have one folder for each individual animal I keep right now, and one folder labelled "Past Chameleons/Geckos" with all the individual folders of animals I've had in the past who I either sold or have died. So every time I take photos of my white out fat tail, London, for example, I put all the final edited images in his individual folder.

Additionally, every photo is labelled with the animal within, so "London November Shoot," for example.

With this method I never misplace photos or have a hard time finding them. Worst case scenario I just run a search on the computer for "London" and it pulls up all his photos. But I know that they're all in his folder, easy to find, and easy to access if I want to upload them or use them for anything.

But I do a LOT of photography and use my reptile photos extensively for contests, blogging, and education so I put a lot of effort into ensuring that everything is easy to find. My dog photos or vacation photos are all organized the same way.

Good luck!

Yeah maybe it's better to have a subfolder per animal instead of one per morph... Sorting manually is long but could be ok if it was only once, problem is this folder got four copy (original, resized, corrected, watermarked)..!!

I know what you mean, trust me! I was in your spot two new computers ago, when I realized I really needed a better system for when I transferred everything into a new laptop. It's time consuming but in an afternoon or two you've done it and then it's really easy to maintain.

I started moving the pics after making a folder for each baby. However i forgot something which is.. Half the pic features groups of babies! Guess i can only leave those in root... But that'll be a mess still then! Any advice for that part?
