I am going to be shipping my two leopard geckos from Florida to New York. I am thinking no cold pack, but need confirmation.
I will drop off the package at 5:30 PM Weds, and it will be delivered before !0:30AM THursday.
The temps here in FL Weds 86-64, and Thursday 88-70. In New York, Weds will be 88-70 on Weds, and then 75-63 on Thursday.
I am a nervous wreck worrying about the safety of these little guys.
I am thinking the drop off temp will only be 82, and the New York Temps in the 70's, so no packs are needed...right?

I wish I had an answer for you but I've never shipped a gecko I wouldn't wager a guess. I just wanted to say I'm happy you asked as I'll hopefully be shipping some in the near future! Best of luck and congrats on shipping your first babies!

If your temps are in the mid to upper 80's when you drop off, I would use a cold pack so they don't get too hot.

If you can ship once it gets to 80 or below, you should be good. Just remember that it's better for geckos to be cold instead of too hot.

Eta: I was told with leopard geckos that you don't need a cold or heat pack when it's 60-80 degrees. 80-90 use a cold pack. Don't ship over 90 or below 40. Use a heat pack when it's 40-60 degrees. I'm sure this is more species specific than general reptile shipping guidelines. Good luck!

Thanks for all the great advice. I dropped them off at 5:30 (that was the latest in my area).
What I did, because the temps here were still 82, was to use a cold pack....but it was taken out of the refrig about one hour before packing. That way it should keep their temps good until they head up north where the lows will be 69. I hope that will be ok.
I will be a nervous wreck until they get to their new homes. No sleep tonight for me!!!!
