We just got one. He's eight weeks old and adorable. I'm amazed at how smart he already is. I just can't wait until the potty training and teething is over. Once my camera is working right, I'll post some pics. I think he's the cutest puppy. He's already learning fetch and wears us out running in the backyard. I adore him! :)

If anyone else has one, any tips? He will be getting plenty of exercise and training, so I'm hoping he'll grow up to be an awesome dog. Our shih tzus are old and lazy, so it's nice to have an active dog. He has made our 7 year old female start acting like a puppy again though.

I don't have one but a lady at the clinic I worked at did. I would recommend tons of socialization, and lots and lots of excersize :)
They sure are cute.

OMG they are adorable little devils. Pictures?! I decided to take home the Aussie Cattle Dog that was neighbors with a bunch of Catahoulas in the shelter. Exercise and more exercise might be the best advice anyone can offer! A tired pup is a good pup. Stuffed Kong toys and pressed rawhide bones also helped me stay sane :p

The cattle dog was our other choice. I will hopefully have pics to share soon.

I would agree with Katie that TONS of socialization is important. Catahoulas tend to be protective control freaks and can become aggressive with strange dogs and people if they aren't given lots of chances to learn proper greeting/ignoring habits as pups.

Thank you! We've already been letting him meet new people and new dogs. We've taken him to a few places, too. I'm hoping to get him in puppy classes in the near future. Right now we're trying to learn to walk on the leash so I can take him around the neighborhood, too. He did learn sit already. :)

Make sure you do your research first. They are high energy, stubborn, and very smart.

Our boy is doing well. We've been able to walk around the block now and he's met some people in the neighborhood. He still tries to pull once in awhile, but we have him mostly walking on our side now. He's a bit scared of cars driving by, but he just sits until they pass instead of running away. Hopefully he'll get over the fear, but the sitting part is good.
