My cat just discovered my geckos today which I got 2 weeks ago. So far shes spent 2 hours sitting on the floor watching the tank with her tail waving. I hope she doesnt manage to knock the tank onto the floor somehow.

Predators tend to be interested in prey. You probably want to consider moving the geckos to an area where the cat cannot possibly come into contact with them. A room where the cat is not allowed to enter, for example.

One of my cats stares very intently at my leopard gecko. Three of my other cats desperately want to play with my bearded dragon, but he's just a baby right now. My cats pretty much ignore all my other pets (although they enjoy stealing hay from the guinea pigs) but the lizards really get their attention. /shrugs. Cats are weird.

Cats

I have had as many as 5 cats with my gecko and there was no problem. Yes, 2 of them would sit on his table and look at him through the glass, but the tank was secured with a screen top and locked down with clips. Today I have 4 cats and 2 geckos with the same set up as above. The cats are seniors now so they do not jump much. As a matter of fact the tables have turned. The geckos look out at the cats!

My cats don't pay no mind to my gecko. They're more interested in the crickets when its feeding time than anything else. One time Cleo escaped and found my kitten just sitting and staring while she walked on past. I showed them the gecko, they run away, I think Cleo smells bad because our one cat is super sensitive to smells and runs like hell, she does the same even with our hamster.

My cat will get in my beardies cage and sit under the heat lamp with him.
The leos are a different story. When I moved my leos into a larger tank, the top was a little too big. I was foolish and thought it would be fine. One of my cats jumped on it, it fell into the tank, and a leo got eaten.
I have learned my lession. Cats eat geckos.

Today I put my gecko near my cat and all he did was sniff and walk away to find a better place to lie down( it was as if he was saying 'eww get that thing away from me!')

Yes, all 3 of my cats are WAY too interested in the Geckos, which is why the Geckos live in a room where the door is always closed unless someone is in there.

My cat (and the one who passed last year) have never bothered the reptiles. My shih tzu though, that's another story!!

My cat and non-obsessive dog could care less but my OCD Cattle Dog is obsessed with anything small that moves. She'll stand for, I kid you not, HOURS staring at anything that has the slightest chance of moving. I bought her a couple mice so she could be entertained...haha. When I'm not home they go up on a shelf :p

She also plays with the fake-mouse on a track toy 100x more than my cat - and chases laser or flash light beams neurotically (the IRT I bought has provided countless hours of fun...lol).

Here she is enjoying her pet mice...lol

No cats at the moment, but my dog is great with my reptiles. Indoors, if they're with me she'll sniff them then ignore them. If they're in their tanks they don't exist. If they're loose she'll point them out to me until I put them away. Ouside on the other hand she becomes very protective and is great for keeping any loose cats away while the reptiles are roaming.

DrCt, that's a cute photo! Snoopy used to play tag with our gerbils for hours and hours. Basically I made them a 10g tank filled with tubes, and then filled it with dirt. The gerbils ran through the tubes and could pop up anywhere. Snoopy would stick her head in the tank. When a gerbil appeared, they'd touch noses. Then the gerbil would head through the tubes and come out somewhere else. Was a hilarious sight. Snoopy is 1/2 aussie cattle dog, 1/2 jack russell. I love your puppys speckled coat, gorgeous.

Both of my cats would eat any of my geckos or skinks given the chance. That's why most of my reptiles are always behind securely-closed doors - I won't take the chance of something happening to one of my little critters.

They would also love to make a snack of my water dragon if they could...being watery, she must smell like fish or something...and her enclosure is in easy access of them, but it's very secure and locked and closed off so they would have to sit directly on top of it (where all the lights and tubes are) to even see her...and even then, there's no way they could get in.

My bearded dragon on the other hand is allowed free-roam time when I'm home. Why? The cats think he reeks. They will walk up to him, sniff him, recoil, then bolt. Absolutely hilarious. Even more so when he goes bounding across the floor and they see him coming, they'll flee. He trampled one of my cats accidentally once and she freaked, and now she won't even come in the room if he's there. Whatever he's got going on, I need to bottle it and douse the rest of my reptiles in it. ;)

I have a dog like that. She is gentle with everything, no matter how small. She does the same thing, sniff and ignore. The difference is my dog is gentle with other animals even outdoors! My other dog, the shih tzu mentioned earlier, is very prey driven and would kill all my reptiles if given the chance. He also has killed a couple of baby bunnies outside. I thought they were bred to be companion dogs, not hunting dogs!!
